Understand crypto.
Start with the numbers.
Explore the costs behind a crypto purchase, calculate your average entry price, and see how fees change a possible exit. Practical education for decisions that deserve a closer look.
Educational scenarios only. Crypto can lose substantial value. Examples use entered prices, not live quotes or forecasts.
Crypto Profit & DCA Calculator
Combine up to 12 buys. Include fees. Estimate average cost, break-even and a hypothetical sale.
Scenarios show net profit/loss, not likelihood. Taxes, slippage, spread and transfer losses are excluded unless captured in your entered costs.
More context. Less guesswork.
A price chart tells only part of the story. Techizo brings the purchase costs, security questions and basic concepts into the same learning space.
See your true costs
A quoted return can look different after trading fees. Model the purchase and exit together, then compare the amount received with the full amount spent.

Build a foundation in wallets, blockchains and market risk. Familiarity with an asset name is different from understanding how custody and transactions work.

Change the exit price to see both losses and gains. A scenario is a way to explore assumptions; it cannot tell you where a market will move next.
Compare a scenario →From purchase budget to break-even.
This calculator models spot purchases and a sale of the entire accumulated position. It does not model leverage, borrowing, liquidation or partial disposals.
Enter each purchase
Use the amount spent and the actual price per coin. Adding purchases at different prices lets you calculate a weighted average cost rather than an average of the price labels.
Account for the fees
The buy fee is deducted from each purchase budget before calculating units. Other costs increase the total cost basis without changing the coin quantity.
Choose an exit scenario
Net sale proceeds equal accumulated units multiplied by the sell price, less the sell fee. Compare proceeds with the cost basis to see profit or loss.
Profit = coins × sell price × (1 − sell fee) − total cost
Break-even price = total cost ÷ [coins × (1 − sell fee)]
Fees in these formulas are decimals: 0.5% becomes 0.005. An exchange may charge fees differently; adapt the inputs to your actual records.

Start with the concepts, then move into practical calculations and safer handling of digital assets.
Understand the asset
A blockchain is a system for recording and checking transactions. A cryptoasset may have different uses, supply rules and governance arrangements. Before evaluating a price, ask what the asset does and what rights, if any, it gives its holder.
Check the arithmetic
Profit, cost basis and average entry price answer different questions. Use consistent units and keep fee assumptions visible. A correct calculation can describe an outcome, but it cannot remove uncertainty about future prices.
Understand access
A wallet manages the credentials used to authorize transactions. Custodial services and self-custody place responsibility in different hands. Never enter a recovery phrase into a calculator or send it to someone offering account support.
DCA is a process.
Profit is an outcome.
Dollar-cost averaging usually means investing fixed amounts at recurring intervals. Buying at several prices changes your accumulated units and average cost. It does not guarantee a profit, and repeated purchases can increase the total amount exposed to a falling asset.
The Techizo calculator combines the purchases you enter. It is a cost calculator, not a historical backtest: it does not fetch past market prices or simulate a calendar of purchases.
When comparing strategies, keep the total contribution and the time period consistent. Otherwise, a larger ending balance may simply reflect more money added, rather than a better return.
Four numbers worth separating
Total cost basis
Your entered purchase budgets plus other modeled costs. This is the denominator used for ROI here, not a jurisdiction-specific tax basis.
Average cost
Total modeled cost divided by accumulated coins. It already reflects the buy-fee convention used by the tool.
Break-even price
The exit price needed to recover modeled costs after the selected sell fee. It is higher than average cost when a sell fee applies.
Net profit or loss
The estimated proceeds after selling the whole position, minus modeled costs. A scenario result is not a realized return.

Cryptoasset prices can move sharply, and some assets or services may become difficult to sell or access. A calculator cannot assess the reliability of an exchange, the safety of a token contract or whether a product is suitable for you.
Check more than the headline return
Confirm the asset and network before a transfer. Review custody arrangements, withdrawal conditions, spread and network costs. Avoid offers promising guaranteed returns or asking you to reveal wallet credentials.

Know what the numbers mean.
A few details make a big difference when comparing purchases and possible exits.
Does this calculator use live crypto prices?
No. All prices are entered manually. The starting values are illustrative examples, not market quotes. Enter your own records or a hypothetical price you want to explore.
Can I use it for Bitcoin, Ethereum or another asset?
Yes, for a simple spot purchase where you know the price per unit. Use the same asset for every buy and the same currency for every input. It does not support leverage, derivatives, rebasing tokens or changing coin quantities from staking rewards.
Why is break-even above my average cost?
A sell fee reduces the amount you receive. The tool divides your cost basis by accumulated coins and by one minus the sell-fee rate, so the sale can recover both the modeled cost and the exit fee.
Is the result a crypto tax calculation?
No. Tax rules may require specific disposal methods, currency conversions and treatment of fees. This tool does not determine taxable gains or calculate tax owed in any country.
Are my calculator inputs uploaded?
This calculator runs locally in your browser and does not send its inputs to a server. Site-wide analytics, advertising or other WordPress plugins may have separate data practices; review the site’s privacy notice when available.
Can dollar-cost averaging prevent losses?
No. Spreading purchases across different prices does not protect against a sustained decline, loss of access or failure of an asset. Average cost describes your purchase history rather than a promise of recovery.
Clear explanations for a complicated space.
